Sarah joined the patent profession after graduating from Cambridge University with a master’s in Engineering. Her course gave her a solid foundation in electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural engineering, followed by two years of specialisation in electrical and information sciences.
 
Sarah initially worked for a long-established private practice firm in London, where she gained extensive experience in drafting, prosecution, portfolio management, and contentious matters. In 2012, she became a partner at the firm. The following year, she and two colleagues founded a new patent firm focused on providing patent advice to UK and European technology companies. This invaluable experience, combined with many years of working with a diverse range of clients, has given her a deep understanding of business challenges.

In 2024, Sarah started The Freelance Patent Attorney to balance the career she loves with the unpredictability of caring for a child with medical needs.
